Authorities in Austria say five skiers have been killed in a pair of avalanches in the western Salzburg Pongau region.

An avalanche killed a 13-year-old skiing off-piste in the Austrian alpine resort of Bad Gastein on Tuesday, in the country's second avalanche death since Sunday, rescuers said.
