NBC News and the Washington Post, citing officials briefed on the investigation, reported the person of interest as Benjamin Erickson. Erickson, 24, has not been charged and has not been named as a suspect in the shooting. The attack took place Saturday at the Providence, Rhode Island, school at about 4 p.m., law enforcement said, prompting a shelter-in-place order that forced students and faculty to spend the night on campus. Providence Mayor Brett Smiley later told reporters that of the nine people shot, one had been discharged, one remained in critical condition, and the other seven victims were in stable condition.
