The governor's letter seeking the transfer of power to his deputy was read on the floor of the Oyo State House of Assembly on Thursday.

The request letter, which was read to the Assembly during plenary on Thursday, also informed the lawmakers that in Makinde’s absence, his Deputy,  Bayo Lawal, would oversee the affairs of the state.
