Hamas will release 33 Israeli hostages in the first phase of a ceasefire and prisoner exchange that follows 15 months of war in Gaza, Qatar's prime minister said on Wednesday.

Hamas has reportedly agreed to the terms proposed for a ceasefire with Israel. This move will bring an end to the Gaza war which started in October 7, 2023.

The agreement is seen as a crucial step towards ending the 15-month war that has ravaged the Middle East. President-elect Trump had been vocal about his desire for a swift resolution.
