A special NIA court in Jagdalpur sentenced 10 convicts to death in the 2013 Jheeram Ghati attack case. The verdict, delivered after more than 13 years, now moves towards High Court scrutiny and appeals.

A court has convicted all ten accused in the 2013 Jhiram Valley Maoist attack in which 29 people, including two Cong leaders, were killed.

Among those killed were then state Congress chief Nand Kumar Patel, former Leader of Opposition Mahendra Karma and former Union minister Vidya Charan Shukla. Different reports have cited death tolls ranging from 29 to 32, depending on victims who later succumbed to their injuries.
