Iran and Oman have made progress in talks on establishing a safe commercial shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran and Oman have agreed a route for ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz even as fresh security incidents highlighted continued risks for regional shipping.

Iran says it has reached an agreement with Oman on the geographic coordinates of a new shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz, but warns the deal alone cannot ensure maritime security.
