NCERT has introduced the 1975–77 National Emergency in the Grade 9 Social Science syllabus for the first time, placing it in Chapter 6 of Understanding Society India and Beyond Part 1. The shift brings a topic once taught only in Class 12 into earlier classrooms under the NEP 2020 revamp, 51 years after the Emergency was imposed.
