A heavy traffic jam was witnessed at the iconic GPO Chowk in central Delhi on Tuesday after the Delhi Traffic Police announced several traffic restrictions in the area. The traffic police said vehicular movement would be regulated or diverted from 8 am onwards. Normal flow of traffic is likely to remain affected on the Connaught Place-Patel Chowk-Parliament Street stretch, Patel Chowk towards GPO, Windsor Place towards GPO, Ashoka Road, Jantar Mantar Road, Parliament Street and adjoining roads, according to Delhi Traffic Police. Officials attributed the special traffic arrangements to the INDIA opposition bloc's protest march to the Election Commission's headquarters over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) issue.
