At least 14 workers of Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) were trapped inside a pulley lift that malfunctioned around 200 feet underground at ECL's Kumardihi ‘A’ Colliery in West Bengal. Rescue teams are working to free the entangled rope, while food and water are being supplied to the trapped workers.

Eastern Coalfields Ltd (ECL) CMD Satish Jha said the incident happened at the Kumardihi A underground mine after a rope slipped off the pulley drum, disrupting the mechanism used to transport workers in the cage.
