A case was filed against a 40-year-old Bengaluru woman for killing her four-month-old twin daughters and attempting suicide, police said. The woman was undergoing psychiatric treatment after doctors reportedly linked her behaviour to postpartum depression and hormonal imbalance following childbirth.

The family had reportedly noticed a change in the woman's behaviour following childbirth. She allegedly showed disinterest in the children and had repeatedly spoken about sending them to an ashram.

According to the complainant, about one-and-a-half months after the delivery, his wife began showing disinterest in caring for the children and repeatedly said that they should be sent to an ashram.
