The Bharatiya Janata Party has released its first list of 47 candidates for the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections, while the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has announced 75 nominees, including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and nine Cabinet ministers.

The list features a mix of senior leaders, new entrants, political turncoats and a few prominent personalities. Union Minister of State for Fisheries George Kurian has been fielded from the Kanjirapally constituency in his home district of Kottayam. A notable feature of the list is the inclusion of the father-son duo of veteran politician P. C. "We expect the NDA-BJP to announce its first list today. Our leadership in Delhi is expected to announce the first list today, and over the next 24-48 hours progressively, the rest of the list will be announced," he said.
