Indonesia, along with neighbouring Malaysia and Thailand, have been hit by severe rains that have caused dozens of deaths across the region in recent days.

Flash floods and landslides on Indonesia’s Sumatra island have killed 164 people, with 79 missing.

Monsoon rains over the past week caused rivers to burst their banks, tearing through hilly villages as mud, rocks and trees tumbled down, leaving destruction in their wake, the National Police said.
