From The Hindu Archives, May 19, 1926: In the Legislative Council, Mr. Nizon, unofficial member, drew the attention of the Government to the alarming prevalence of rubber stealing on the Singapore Island, two of the largest estates losing 21,500 pounds in the month, altogether 5,000 pounds were stolen in the month representing a value of nearly a million dollars a year.
