Tadesse Werede is under house arrest, reports say
The fate of Tadesse Werede, the former chairman of the Tigray Interim Regional Administration, has remained unclear despite various reports and speculation. It has now emerged that he has been placed under house arrest at his home in Mekele, the capital of the Tigray region. The situation raised further questions after reports emerged this week that Tadesse’s scheduled meeting with U.S. Ambassador Ervin Massinga had been blocked, allegedly after security forces instructed the guards assigned to him to prevent him from leaving his residence.
