Sarah Beckstrom has died from her wounds after she and fellow member of the National Guard were ambushed by a lone gunman near the White House in Washington, DC.

The two victims have been identified, and a suspect has been named

Andrew Wolfe, 24, and Sarah Backstrom, 20, were identified in a press conference on Thursday.

The two members of the National Guard who were shot in the US capital Washington have died, West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey said on Wednesday. He stated on the platform X and on Facebook that the two victims were from his state.

A suspect is in custody and the scene is secured after a shooting mere blocks from the White House in Washington, D.C., police said Wednesday. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said two National Guardsmen had been shot. Lindsey Reiser anchored CBS News' coverage.
