The soldiers were released after a high delegation from Nigeria led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, met with Ibrahim Traoré and other members of his administration.

Dec. 18 (UPI) -- Officials in Burkina Faso released 11 members of the Nigerian military after seizing their cargo aircraft and detaining them for making an emergency landing in Bobo-Dioulasso.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, confirmed this to Vanguard News on Wednesday night.

According to a statement issued by the Nigerian minister’s spokesperson, both countries have now resolved the issue concerning Nigerian Air Force pilots and crew.

The decision of the House to intervene followed the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance moved by an Ekiti lawmaker,  Rufus Ojuawo.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) C-130 with 11 military personnel was forced to land in Burkina Faso on Monday following an emergency.
