Suspect charged in shooting at White House correspondent's dinner
WASHINGTON – A 31-year-old Caltech graduate will be arraigned Monday on charges arising from Saturday night’s shooting at the White House correspondent’s dinner. Cole Tomas Allen from Torrance was taken down seconds after rushing a check point and shooting and wounding a Secret Service agent. The gunman failed to reach President Trump who was in another room and was unharmed. Interim Washington, DC, police chief Jeffery Carroll told reporters the suspect had several weapons as he “charged” a Secret Service checkpoint. “He was armed with a shotgun, a handgun and multiple knives,” Carroll said. After the dinner was canceled, Trump said the event will be rescheduled within 30 days and will be “safer.” Asked whether he believed he was the intended target, Trump responded: “I guess I mean, these people, they’re crazy, they’re crazy. And you know, you never know. He was very far away from me.” This is the third shooting aimed at President Trump.
