A 21-member rescue team was dispatched to the remote mountain after nearby hikers witnessed the climber fall and officials determined the injuries were not survivable.

A climber on Castle Peak died Sunday after falling from the 14,274-foot peak between Aspen and Crested Butte. Flight for Life located the climber from the air.
