IGN: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo on Switch 2 removes most interior decor and background props
· My Nintendo NewsThe Nintendo Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was also going to be a challenging port for the system. Now IGN via GVG is reporting that one of the concessions that Square Enix has made is to remove a lot of the interior door and background props from the JRPG. Crowd density in towns has also been reduced to try to help keep the framerate stable. IGN says Japanese fans have been quick to comment on the Nintendo Switch 2 version’s compromises on social media. Digital Foundry should provide a better analysis of the Nintendo Switch 2 port when they undoubtedly report their impressions of the demo or final game.
“What is not subtle is that many of the background props are missing in the Switch 2 demo version. This is apparent when checking out the houses as Cloud in Nibelheim. All the props, such as the vases of flowers, framed photographs, pots and pans, are gone. This is true both during the gameplay and cutscenes, and makes the flashback in which Cloud first goes back home to visit his mom after joining SOLDIER feel less… homely.”
