Emily In Paris fans call out glaring error minutes into season five

by · Mail Online

Emily In Paris fans have pointed out a glaring editing error just minutes into the new series of the hit Netflix show as it returned to screens this week.

The drama, which stars Lily Collins as Emily Cooper - an American marketing whizz who moved to Paris - made its highly-anticipated return on Thursday.

Since its launch in 2020, fans have been eagerly following Lily, 36, as Emily, as she struggles to make long-lasting romantic connections and find her feet abroad.

The last series ended with Emily and her love interest Marcello, who is played by Eugenio Franceschini, in Rome, and the new series picks up where things left off.

And as their romance continues to blossom, the duo head out on an autumnal walk in the countryside of Rome, after Emily relocated there to be with Marcello and his family.

While she's seen sporting towering green heels throughout the scenes, which are left muddied and ruined after the walk, in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, fans have pointed out a major continuity error.

As Emily joins Marcello on the woodland hike, one shot sees Emily, who is wearing a matching green shorts and blazer set, swap her heels for green wellies.

Though extremely quick, the shot shows Emily wearing knee-high boots, the same as those worn by the other female stars in the scene.

An eagle-eyed fan took to Reddit to explain: 'Only 12 minutes in the first episode and there's already a continuity error. Emily steps out of the car in her green heels...

'Then there's a birds-eye-view shot of them through the trees where Emily is wearing boots, then it cuts to tighter shot of her struggling in heels again. Nice one.'

Another viewer agreed: 'I thought I saw her in boots for a second!'

It comes after Lily Collins gave fans a sneak peek behind the scenes of Emily in Paris Season five on Thursday as the new series finally landed on Netflix

The actress took to her Instagram to post several snaps of herself and her co-stars on set in Paris, as she thanked her team and fans for all the love and support.

In one sweet snap, Emily donned a chic black and white jumpsuit as she giggled uncontrollably with her co-stars Samuel Arnold, 34, and Ashley Park, 34.

She also shared a photo of herself and Ashley posing for a silly selfie in front of the Eiffel Tower.

Meanwhile, in another snap, Lily looked effortlessly chic in a black gingham off-the-shoulder top and a black pinstripe skirt with a slit, striking up a pose for the camera.

In another sweet on-set behind-the-scenes photo, Lily and her co-star Ashley giggled uncontrollably as they danced together, with the Eiffel Tower in the backdrop.

Meanwhile, in another outdoor snap, Lily cut a stylish figure in a white summer dress with a blue polka dot print, striking a sultry pose on a chair as she took a break from filming.

The actress also gave fans a glimpse of her lavish wardrobe, which was filled with a plethora of vibrant coloured heels and featured a rail full of chic clothing items.

She also posed alongside her new co-star, Minnie Driver, 55, in another shot, in which the duo wore similar ensembles.

Meanwhile, in another shot, her co-star Bruno Gouery, 50, beamed as Lily took a close-up photo of him beside a nude painting in France.

In one funny video, Lily can be seen running along as a team member threw what appears to be mini sandbags at her as she filmed a running scene.

Sharing the snaps to Instagram, Lily captioned the post: 'TODAY IS THE DAY! Season five is officially yours and so is this peek behind the scenes.

'Narrowing this down to 20 slides was nearly impossible... never a dull moment on set with this group.

'Feeling insanely grateful for my @emilyinparis family and for all of you who are binging it the moment it dropped. We wouldn’t be here with you! ENJOY!…'

It comes after Emily in Paris released a first look at its fifth season, with producers also teasing a possible exit by a major character.

Netflix released the trailer to fans earlier this month, ahead of the brand-new season's launch on December 18.

The clip shows Lily's alter ego Emily as she adjusts to her new life in Rome with Eugenio Franceschini's character Marcello.

Elsewhere, with Emily struggling to settle in, Gabriel appears as the pair have a heart-to-heart.

The character, played by Lucas Bravo, tells her he's excited by the future, and she should be too.

He's then seen boarding a train, with it not clear if he's exploring Rome or returning to Paris.

It further fuels speculation that Gabriel is being written out of the show following his split from Emily, after his absence from the initial trailer caused alarm amongst fans.

A synopsis for season five released by Netflix reads: 'Now the head of Agence Grateau Rome, Emily faces professional and romantic challenges as she adapts to life in a new city.

'But just as everything falls into place, a work idea backfires, and the fallout cascades into heartbreak and career setbacks. Seeking stability, Emily leans into her French lifestyle, until a big secret threatens one of her closest relationships.

'Tackling conflict with honesty, Emily emerges with deeper connections, renewed clarity, and a readiness to embrace new possibilities.'
