The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Unofficial PC Port Released

by · DSOGaming

Zelda fans, here is something for you today. An unofficial PC port of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has just been released. So, right now, you can play both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom natively on your PC.

Created by NotRexed, SkyboundTOTK has several options to improve how the game looks and runs. It supports FSR 1 upscaling, which can sharpen the image when the game is shown at a larger size. Players can also adjust image sharpening to suit their needs.

The port also has an experimental frame interpolation option. It creates extra frames between real ones to make motion look smoother. This may raise the frame rate shown on screen, but it does not make the game itself run more steps per second. Fast motion and on-screen menus may look odd, and the feature can add some delay.

Players can also try an experimental ultrawide mode. It aims to fit the game to wider screens by changing the view and the HUD. However, this feature may stretch the image, so it may not work as intended on all setups.

The PC port adds keyboard and mouse controls, along with support for compatible gamepads. Players can move, aim the camera, jump, run, attack, and use other game actions with keys. Mouse capture and sensitivity settings are also included.

There are more display options, too. Players can switch between full-screen and windowed mode, choose whether to keep the right screen shape or stretch the image, and save display settings for later. A local graphics cache can also help speed up later runs, though it does not remove all stutter.

You can download SkyboundTOTK from its GitHub page. Just click on “Code” and then “Download as ZIP”.

Players must build it on a Windows 10 or 11 PC with the required tools. They also need their own legally obtained, extracted copy of the game’s base version 1.0.0. The project does not include game files, keys, or saves. Other game versions are not supported by its current game-specific code.

The build process can take a long time and needs at least 45 GB of free space for extra files, on top of the game files. Some stutter may also occur as new scenes load and shaders are built.
