Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, has lost his father.

The number one pair of safe hands for the Super Eagles announced the passage of his father in a post on his social media handle.

In the post on Friday, a day after Nigeria qualified for Africa’s most prestigious football tournament, the Africa Cup of Nations, Nwabali wrote on his Instagram page: “Rest in peace, Dad.”

He accompanied it with a tearful emoji.

The cause of the death was unknown as at press time.

The Super Eagles on Thursday held the Cheetahs of Benin Republic to a 1-1 draw in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire in the AFCON qualifier.

Even before the match commenced, Nigeria had qualified for the AFCON, courtesy of the defeat of Rwanda in Kigali by the Mediterranean Knights of Libya.

The match in Kigali put Nigeria at an advantage in which no team can catch up with it.

With 10 points in the kitty, the Super Eagles further consolidated on the qualification by snatching another point from the Cheetahs who played at their adopted ground in Cote d’Ivoire.
