The Sweden international joined Liverpool on deadline day in September 2025 for a British-record transfer fee of £125 million after a turbulent period at Newcastle.
Speaking to BBC Sport’s The Football Interview on Friday, Isak said Liverpool’s reputation and desire to bring him to Anfield played a major role in his decision.
Isak said: “Liverpool is a massive club, and everything about the club made it pretty clear.”
He added: “The club’s ambition and the club’s will to get me in as well. It was a big part of it.”
Isak’s departure from Newcastle came after a difficult period in which he trained away from the first team. The striker had also said promises made to him at Newcastle had been broken.
Despite the circumstances surrounding his exit, Isak said he has never regretted choosing Liverpool.
Asked whether he had ever regretted the move, Isak said: “No, never. I would never think like that.”
His first season at Anfield was disrupted by a leg break, which kept him out from December until April. He managed 22 appearances and 1,032 minutes during the campaign, scoring three Premier League goals.
Isak said the injury was difficult but explained that being in a good place helped him avoid dwelling on the past.
Isak said: “The leg break was tough. Anyone who had a long injury would know.”

He added: “But on the other hand, when you’re in a good place and when you feel good, you don’t really tend to look back because it doesn’t really benefit you.”
The 26-year-old has started the new campaign in encouraging fashion, already matching his three-goal Premier League tally from last season after four games.
He also represented Sweden at the World Cup during the summer.
