Messi unveils special Argentina kit for farewell match against Benin

The 39-year-old is set to play his final match for Argentina on October 6 against Benin at the Monumental, following his decision to retire from international football.
Messi was granted a special call-up by head coach Lionel Scaloni, with the upcoming friendly serving as a tribute to the Argentina captain during the current FIFA window.
The match is expected to provide an emotional farewell for Messi after more than two decades of representing the national team.
To mark the occasion, a commemorative shirt has been designed for the Argentina captain.
Messi shared a video showing the back of the specially designed jersey on Instagram on Monday and wrote: “One last match… A jersey for a lifetime.”
Messi has made 207 appearances for Argentina and currently holds the national team records with 125 goals and 68 assists.
His international honours include Olympic gold at the 2008 Games, Copa America titles in 2021 and 2024, and the Finalissima trophy in 2022.

His greatest achievement with Argentina came at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where he led the team to the title.
The upcoming meeting with Benin will therefore mark the closing chapter of Messi’s international career and his final appearance in the famous blue-and-white Argentina colours.
