Jorge Jesus names Ronaldo in Portugal squad for Nations League

The experienced forward remains part of the national team setup as Jesus begins his tenure, ending any immediate uncertainty over Ronaldo’s international future.
Ronaldo, Portugal’s all-time leading goalscorer and most-capped player, remains part of the squad as the team prepares for its next assignments.
His inclusion will also give Jesus the opportunity to work with one of the most experienced players in Portuguese football as the new coach begins preparations with the national team.
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said on X on Friday: “Cristiano Ronaldo will continue with Portugal national team!
“He’s been called up for the upcoming games by new head coach Jorge Jesus.”
Portugal will begin their 2026/27 UEFA Nations League campaign on September 24, 2026, when they host Wales.
Four days later, Portugal will travel to face Norway on September 27 before taking on Denmark away on October 1.
The Portuguese side will then welcome Norway on October 4 for their fourth group-stage fixture.
Portugal’s final two group matches will see them travel to Denmark on November 14 before rounding off the campaign away to Wales on November 17.
