Joshua-Fury fight: Cardiff hotels sell out ahead of December date
by Moronfolu Adeyemi · The Eagle OnlineHotels in Cardiff have sold out ahead of a potential date for the long-awaited Anthony Joshua versus Tyson Fury heavyweight clash, with December 12 reportedly being considered for the fight.
The Welsh capital has emerged as the reported favourite venue for the all-British heavyweight showdown, with the Principality Stadium preferred over New York’s Madison Square Garden.
The possibility of the fight taking place in Cardiff has already prompted boxing fans to secure accommodation, with several hotels reporting no availability for the weekend.
The Welsh Rugby Union’s hotel, The Parkgate, located next to the stadium, has no rooms available for the weekend, while the Cardiff city centre Marriott and Holiday Inn are also sold out for December 12.
Friday, December 11, is also being considered as an alternative date.
The venue has remained a key issue in negotiations for the fight, which has been the subject of months of speculation.
Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has maintained that the bout should take place in the United Kingdom and rejected claims from Ultimate Fighting Championship chief executive and Zuffa Boxing co-founder Dana White that he had been preventing the fight from happening.

Hearn told iFL TV: “Dana White has tried to get involved in a fight that he has nothing to do with. All we have ever done is say, ‘We have signed our contract. Just honour the contract that we have signed.’”
Hearn also revealed that Joshua had been offered more money to stage the fight in the United States but remained committed to holding the bout in Britain.
He said: “Anthony Joshua could have taken many millions more to do the fight in America.
“We want the fight in Britain.
“The support that we have had on social media, my social media, AJ’s social media, has made us double down on our principles on this. We are not trying to hurt the fight.”
Wembley Stadium has also been discussed as another possible UK venue, although Hearn said Joshua will have the final say on where the bout takes place.
With December 12 reportedly being lined up and Cardiff emerging as the leading venue option, attention remains on whether an official announcement will confirm the date and location of the highly anticipated heavyweight clash.
