Veda Varshini to lead Mysuru Zone U-19 team

Mysuru: City’s Veda Varshini will be leading Mysuru Zone U-19 Girls team at the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) U-19 zonal tournament to be held in Bengaluru. Meanwhile, Kashvi S. Shekar was appointed as Vice-Captain.

The KSCA Managing Committee has taken the decision to form zone teams for girls and conduct inter-zonal tournaments to give more opportunities for mofussil women players. This initiative is taken to bring women’s cricket on par with existing men’s format, said KSCA Mysuru Zone Convenor P. Srinivas Prasad.

Earlier, women players from all six zones from Karnataka had to go to Bengaluru to attend the selection trials for the State team. However, the new managing committee decided to start the academies for women cricketers and provide them with necessary infrastructure to improve upon their skills at zonal centres.
