Sapient College hosts State-level Hockey Tournament: St. Joseph’s University reigns supreme

Mysuru: St. Joseph’s University, Bengaluru, emerged as winners of State-level Hockey Tournament organised by Sapient College, Mysuru, at Chamundi Vihar Stadium here recently.

Coorg Institute of Technology (CIT), Ponnampet, emerged as the runner-up of the tournament  while Cauvery College, Virajpet, secured third place.

A total of 15 teams from different parts of State participated.

Officials from the University of Mysore, Hockey Mysore and Hockey Academy Bangalore officiated the matches. Vikram Uthappa provided commentary for the tournament.

Trophies and cash prizes were awarded to the winners by Sapient Education Trust Secretary Leela Prabhu Ram during the valedictory ceremony. Trust Chairman Daljeet Ram, Sapient College Dean Dr. Sujatha Bopanna, Principal Dr. K. Ganesh,  Administrator Sujith Padival and PE Director K.J. Mohan Kumar were  present on the occasion.

Individual Awards

Top Goal Scorer: Siddhartha Uthappa (St. Joseph’s University, Bengaluru); Best Defender: Koushik Kariappa (Cauvery College, Gonikoppa); Best Forward: Shaan Devaiah (St. Joseph’s University, Bengaluru); Player of the Tournament: Avnish Madappa (CIT, Ponnampet); Best Goal Keeper: Gyan Ganapathi (St. Joseph’s University, Bengaluru); Fair Play Award: St Joseph’s College, Mysuru.
