Everton and Aston Villa talk could be fuelled by selling club – Competition moving with confidence
by Kaustubh Pandey · Sport WitnessInter Milan have been working to sign Anan Khalaili, with Everton and Aston Villa also dragged into the race.
The Union Saint-Gilloise player had an impressive 2025/26 campaign. While mainly playing at right wing-back, he scored six times and assisted just as many times. His performances have led to regular call-ups for the Israeli national team, and he’s now played 16 times for them.
In recent days, Inter Milan have been pushing for his signature. They have made a formal offer and there is confidence a deal could get done soon. Denzel Dumfries has joined Real Madrid, leaving Khalaili as a possible first-choice at the Italian champions.
With Inter yet to close a deal, talk around Aston Villa and Everton has grown.
Belgian club seeking option
Today’s Corriere dello Sport takes a close look at the wing-back, noting that Inter remain favourites to sign him.
They also relay English claims of interest from Aston Villa and Everton. But they respond to it, making it clear that this is probably an attempt from Union Saint-Gilloise to spark an auction.
It may well instead be his agent, trying to get better personal terms.
Inter, at their end, aren’t concerned. They feel they’re in the driving seat and believe a deal should go through soon.
English clubs should make in-roads
The fact that Inter are very keen on Khalaili itself shows how good he is. He thrives on covering distance on the flanks and his versatility is another bonus.
That is why Everton and Aston Villa should be alert to the scenario. USG won’t mind them entering the race formally and the two clubs should have enough to seal the deal.
Everything will come down to the 21-year-old’s wishes, though. A move to Inter could guarantee him silverware and they have a very stable project.
