Hull City considering signing Facundo Pellistri – Manchester United have 50% clause

by · Sport Witness

Hull City could bring Facundo Pellistri back to the Premier League this summer, after he left Manchester United in 2024.

The Uruguay international first arrived in Europe when Manchester United signed him from Peñarol in 2020. He managed three assists in 611 minutes from 25 matches for the Red Devils.

Manchester United sent him out on loan to Spain before selling him to Panathinaikos in August 2024. Hull City are now in the picture to sign the winger this summer.

Hull City owner could be key

Sport 24 edition-in-chief Ilias Kallonas and journalist Antonis Oikonomidis covered the 24-year-old’s situation on BoxtoBox, relayed by Sport 24.

Two years ago, Facundo Pellistri said he decided to leave Manchester United in search of regular playing time.

Since moving to Greece, he’s played 53 matches, managing four goals and seven assists, and 18 were from last season.

The attacker, who earns €2.2m per year at Panathinaikos, is now on the Hull City radar.

According to Kallonas and Kallonas, Sergej Jakirović’s side are considering signing the 24-year-old.

Hull City owner Acun Ilıcalı has close ties with Giannis Alafouzos, who owns the Greek club. This connection could be key for the Tigers to sign the South American.

The report points out Manchester United retain a 50% sell-on clause and have a buyback option, which they are unlikely to exercise.

Agent leaves door open for summer move

Facundo Pellistri didn’t make an appearance for Uruguay at the World Cup, being an unused substitute in three matches.

The attacker’s agent, Edgardo Lasalvia, recently spoke to Sport890, relayed by Red Gol, to criticise Marcelo Bielsa for not giving him minutes. The representative also talked about the possibility of his client leaving Panathinaikos.

“We’re looking for a way to change teams. But if not, we’re fine staying in Greece,” he said.

The South American’s contract expires in 2028 and he’s valued at €5m by Transfermarkt.

If Pellistri were to join Hull City, he would hope it will be much better than his first spell in England.
