Aston Villa transfer target Matias Soule

Matias Soule has grown into an important player for AS Roma this season and is now attracting attention from Aston Villa.

The Italian side paid €30m to sign the Argentine in 2024. This came right after he had an impressive spell at Frosinone and now, Soule is replicating that at a higher level for the Giallorossi.

He’s played 38 times in all competitions, scoring seven times and racking up eight assists. In Serie A, he has contributed to 11 goals, having recently recovered from a grown issue.

This is already better than last season, when he contributed to 10 goals in all competitions. When the Roma attack has sometimes struggled for creativity, Soule has stepped up and made a mark.

Last year, Sport Witness covered Aston Villa’s interest in the attacker. At that point, Tottenham were also mentioned as a suitor.

Unai Emery’s side remain in the picture to land the Argentine this summer.

Roma’s financial situation key

LaRoma24 report the Giallorossi could have to deal with some major exits by the end of June. This is because of financial regulations, and Roma want to stay within the limits to escape any bans or fines.

Amidst all that, Soule’s situation is gathering attention. Aston Villa have ‘set their sights’ on the 23-year-old, with Bournemouth also in the picture.

There is also interest from the Bundesliga, where Stuttgart are keeping an eye on the versatile winger. They have expressed their interest in the past and remain in the picture to sign him.

While Soule is a possible candidate to leave, his exit may not help Roma too much. Since they paid around €30m for him, a major capital gain currently feels unlikely. This will only change if a suitor like Aston Villa ends up paying much more for the ex-Juventus youngster.
