Sunderland preparing bid in ‘coming weeks’ – Contact made, player set for summer move

by · Sport Witness

Sunderland rekindle their interest in Royal Charleroi SC’s Yacine Titraoui for the summer.

Last summer, the Premier League side showed interest in the 22-year-old, but a move never took shape.

Earlier this month, Sport Witness relayed news of Sunderland and Leeds United providing significant competition to Marseille in the transfer chase.

The midfielder joined the Jupiler Pro League side from Algerian club Paradou AC in July 2024.

He played 69 matches, managing six goals and four assists of which four goals and two assists are from 37 matches this season.

His league stats this season are as follows:

  • Appearances: 30
  • Starts: 29
  • Total minutes: 2,545
  • Minutes per game: 85
  • Interceptions per game: 1.3
  • Tackles per game: 1.8
  • Possession won (final third): 0.4
  • Recoveries per game: 5.8
  • Clearances per game: 1.3
  • Blocked shots per game: 0.3
  • Duels won per game: 4.3

Sunderland to launch attempt for Titraoui

The Algeria international’s performances continue to attract interest from Marseille. That’s according to Media Foot, who state his exit is imminent.

He has just over 14 months left on his contract and therefore, Royal Charleroi SC wouldn’t be able to collect a high transfer fee. This should please the Ligue 1 side, but they have to be wary of the competition from Sunderland.

Régis Le Bris’ side have made contact with Yacine Titraoui’s agent and can soon launch an offensive.

The Black Cats are preparing an offer in the ‘coming weeks’, without the report specifying or suggesting the fee they intend to propose.

Media Foot also make no mention of the Belgian club’s asking price and his preference between Sunderland and Marseille. Earlier claims have discussed Leeds United’s interest, who could challenge the two clubs for the Algerian’s signature.

With Titraoui set to leave Royal Charleroi, he has to make a decision after evaluating the offers and sporting projects.

Algerian’s contract, value and agent info

Yacine Titraoui will have a year left on his contract after this season and Transfermarkt value him at €7m. British Agency Unique Sports Group are representing the player.

Without a renewal, the next window will Royal Charleroi’s last chance to earn a decent fee from his sale.
