President gives Newcastle United encouragement for €60m signing
by Naveen Ullal · Sport WitnessNewcastle United have received a boost over signing Real Betis Abde Ezzalzouli, after pursuing him in recent weeks.
On May 28th, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain that the La Liga side face the danger of losing the forward to Newcastle United this summer.
The Morocco international suffered a knee injury in June, forcing him to withdraw from the World Cup.
Real Betis president won’t close exit door
Estadio Deportivo now talks about Newcastle United’s interest in the 24-year-old and the chances of him leaving the Andalusian club this summer.
Sport Witness recently relayed news that Abde Ezzalzouli would find it difficult to say no to the Magpies.
On June 22nd, we covered claims the Premier League side have been focusing on Abde. The financial aspect would make it complicated for Newcastle United.
The attacker has a €60m release clause in his contract. Estadio now claim the Spanish club will consider offers close to this figure.
Real Betis president Ángel Haro has been speaking to Cope on several topics, including Abde, and Estadio have relayed his comments.
“He’s showing significant maturity. He started working from day one and could be ready by the second week. We’re very happy with Abde and we’d like to keep him but saying that a player is untouchable doesn’t make sense,” he said.
In other words, the official refuses to rule out the Moroccan’s sale. He could consider the player’s exit if there’s an offer close to €60m.
Newcastle United may not be attractive
Estadio only cover Real Betis’ stance and not what Abde Ezzalzouli thinks. It’s unclear whether the player is willing to leave and if so, consider a move to St James’ Park.
Newcastle United’s failure to qualify for the Champions League could make a potential move complicated. He could play in this competition if he continues at Real Betis next season.
Abde’s contract lasts until 2029, and Transfermarkt value him at €40m.
