“Arsenal and Manchester City” – Acceptance lack of agent may have ruined big transfer

Artur Boruc has said Arsenal and Manchester City showed interest in him during his playing career.

The 45-year-old ended his career of over two decades in 2022. He played for Poland for 13 years between 2004 and 2017.

Boruc has been speaking to Meczyki.pl about the opportunities he had to join Arsenal, Manchester City or AC Milan.

The former goalkeeper first moved to the UK when Celtic signed him from Legia Warszawa in 2005. He spent five years in Glasgow and left them for Fiorentina, before leaving the latter as a free agent in 2012.

Boruc returned to the UK when Southampton signed him. He then moved to AFC Bournemouth on loan in 2014 before joining them permanently a year later. The former stopper spent six years with the Cherries.

The Pole played over 100 matches in the Premier League across the Saints and Cherries.

He hasn’t mentioned when Arsenal, Manchester City and Milan had interest in him. The Premier League duo may have looked at him when he was at Celtic. However, Boruc insists he has no regrets over missing out on the two English clubs.

“There was interest from Milan, Arsenal, and Manchester City. Do I regret not joining any of those clubs? No, I don’t, because I wouldn’t have experienced what I experienced,” he said.

On why the move to Milan failed, Boruc explained: “At the time, I was my own agent. That says a lot. I could be a better agent. Or just have one.”
