Arsenal ready to step up interest with €25m+ offer – Gunners star can help

by · Sport Witness

It seems Arsenal are back in the picture for the signing of Breno Bidon, just days after the Corinthians midfielder revealed his admiration for Bruno Guimarães.

The Gunners have been following the 21-year-old for some time. They previously contacted Corinthians and the player’s representatives, without going as far as making an offer.

That could now change though.

Arsenal considering offer above €25m

Bolavip Brazil reports Arsenal and Juventus are both looking at making a move for Bidon in a future transfer window.

Things remain at an early stage and Corinthians have not received an official proposal from either club.

Arsenal, though, are said to be considering an offer above the €25m (£21.7m) Corinthians want before opening negotiations. The idea would be to get ahead of the competition, with Juventus now another club in the picture.

Bolavip says Arsenal could even count on a little “help” from Bruno Guimarães in their pursuit. And that comes only days after Bidon publicly named the Arsenal midfielder as someone he looks up to.

The pair have now spent time together with Brazil, and Bidon was also impressed by Bruno’s mentality.

Well, that’s certainly a useful connection to have if they eventually decide to turn their long-standing interest into a serious attempt.

Bidon’s value is heading in the right direction for Corinthians

His first senior Brazil call-up has also arrived at a convenient time for Corinthians. Bolavip explains that the Brazilian club are happy with the extra attention, particularly given their difficult financial situation.

Bidon has played 30 Brasileirão matches this year and scored twice. He’s one of the pillars of manager Fernando Diniz’s system.

There was also interest from Besiktas in the previous window. The Turkish club reportedly considered a package worth €18m (£15.6m), with €12m (£10.4m) upfront and another €6m (£5.2m) in instalments. That never became a formal offer before the window closed.

Arsenal going beyond €25m (£21.7m) would therefore take things to a very different level. But for now that’s only what they are considering. There is no bid on the table.

Still, after months of enquiries and monitoring, Arsenal are now being presented as thinking about the next step. And Bidon’s very public admiration for one of their midfield stars gives this one an extra little twist.
