Rangers player encouraged to dump Ibrox future and leave Philippe Clement behind
by Naveen Ullal · Sport WitnessRangers manager Philippe Clement hasn’t included Ianis Hagi in his core plans at Ibrox this season.
The Romania international has clocked in 185 minutes from four matches and made two made two appearances for Rangers since October’s international break.
Hagi arrived at Rangers from KRC Genk in 2020 and initially featured regularly for the Scottish club. He was sent out on loan to Deportivo Alavés last season, where the 26-year-old was unable to enjoy regular minutes.
Despite his current situation at Rangers, former Romania U19 manager Liță Dumitru says the player is best in his country.
He revealed this during a chat with Digi Sport and Dumitru, who is currently the caretaker manager at Concordia Chiajna, insists the national team have to rely upon Hagi.
“I don’t see anyone better than Ianis in the country. We have to rely on him,” he said.
Dumitru remains confident that the attacking midfielder can succeed if he were to leave Philippe Clement’s side.
“There are few of us [valuable footballers]. If Ianis came to the Scots in this situation, imagine that… I don’t see anyone better than Ianis in the country,” Dumitru explained.
“I think he’s a good footballer, we have to rely on him. If he left, I think he would do very well.”
The manager has left the player out of the Europa League squad. Unless there’s a drastic change in the player’s situation at Rangers, he’s likely to leave the club in the winter market, in order to revive his career.
