Tottenham, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest fighting for signing – Immediate deadline can push for €10m transfer
by Naveen Ullal · Sport WitnessTottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest are in the picture for Joaquín Oso and are awaiting Sevilla’s final decision.
On July 2nd, we relayed news that Nottingham Forest made a last-minute entry in the race for the left-back.
A day later, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain that Nottingham Forest contacted Sevilla to find out the fee needed to sign him. Tottenham have now joined the Premier League duo in the battle.
PL trio in mix to sign Spaniard
Vamos Mi Sevilla FC mentions Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest when covering the latest on 23-year-old.
The fullback arrived at the La Liga side for free in 2022, after a spell at Málaga, and was initially part of their reserve team.
He has played 25 matches at the first team and 24 were from last season. Despite the limited number of appearances, the fullback has caught the attention of several clubs because of his contract situation.
The Spaniard has less than a year left on his contract and Sevilla are keen on extending it. The latter are finding his agent’s demand too high, and this has put the renewal on hold.
Sevilla are facing a risk of losing him for free in 2027 and well are aware of the growing interest. The outlet claims five top-tier clubs have contacted the La Liga side to find out about Joaquín Oso’s availability.
It’s unclear whether Spurs and Nottingham Forest have made approaches, while Eddie Howe’s side have already contacted Sevilla.
However, the Premier League trio are showing interest in the player. Villarreal, Real Betis, Real Sociedad and Fiorentina are also in the mix.
Sevilla send clear message
Vamos Mi Sevilla FC claims the Spanish club have issued an ultimatum to Joaquín Oso’s representatives.
Sevilla have given them a deadline to close the renewal negotiations immediately. If there are no movements, they will make him available in the market with a €10m starting price.
This will be affordable for Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest and there’s no clarity on his preference or the club leading the transfer race.
Oso’s suitors have to wait until Sevilla’s deadline before making further advances.
