Nottingham Forest expected to return with improved bid soon – Negotiations ongoing, already offered €25m

Nottingham Forest have made a concrete attempt to sign Feyenoord’s Givairo Read, but it wasn’t enough to get the operation over the line.

Both Manchester City and Bayern Munich have long shown an interest in the right-back. The Reds have overtaken them by submitting an official bid on Wednesday.

Earlier today, Sport Witness covered claims from the Dutch press of Feyenoord rejecting Nottingham Forest’s bid.

There was no mention of the fee proposal or about the Eredivisie side’s stance on selling him.

Details of Nottingham Forest’s opening bid

Feyenoord Transfermarkt, who took to X, formerly known as Twitter, claims the Premier League side’s package was over €25m. This indicates the fee would also include potential bonuses.

The Dutch club have rejected it and have demanded ‘way more’ from Nottingham Forest to sanction the 20-year-old’s sale.

The report again doesn’t specify Feyenoord’s starting price for Givairo Read. Despite the rejection, ‘negotiations continue’, most likely between the two clubs.

Fr12.nl first reported of Oliver Glasner’s side wanting to make an offer for the fullback.

Nottingham Forest not giving up

A fresh report from the same outlet now relays Feyenoord Transfermarkt’s latest claim and then shares their own updates. Their decision to turn down the bid isn’t surprising considering the player’s role and value.

He’s a regular for the club when available for selection. The Netherlands U21 international has a contract until 2029, and Transfermarkt value him at €25m.

The City Ground club aren’t giving up and expected to return with an improved offer in the ‘coming days’. Once again, there’s no indication of the fee Nottingham Forest are willing to propose.

Two months ago, Sport Witness relayed news of Feyenoord demanding a club-record fee for the Dutchman. Their current is around €35m from Igor Paixão’s move to Marseille last summer.

Oliver Glasner’s side have to improve their opening bid by at least €10m to sign Givairo Read this summer. The two reports don’t mention whether the fullback is open to joining Nottingham Forest.
