Club not considering signing Aston Villa player – Deal ‘no longer within budget’

by · Sport Witness

Bayern Munich have no interest in Aston Villa‘s Johan Manzambi amid latest reports linking him to the Bundesliga winners.

The 21-year-old left Servette to join SC Freiburg’s academy in 2023 and made his way into their first team a year later. He managed two goals and two assists from 11 matches during the 2024/25 season.

Last season, operating mainly in the middle and as an attacking midfielder, he managed seven goals and nine assists from 47 matches. Manzambi attracted interest from several clubs and Aston Villa, who paid €60m, won the battle in July.

The Switzerland international has enjoyed a good start with the Premier League side. A knee injury meant he waited until September to make his Villans debut. He scored three goals and contributed three assists from six matches so far.

Aston Villa form not going unnoticed

Prior to joining Unai Emery’s side, Newcastle United wanted to sign him. The Magpies reportedly had an agreement in place with SC Freiburg but not with the player.

On his decision to join Aston Villa amid Newcastle United interest, he said: “The plan worked out, I was happy with it. There are always a lot of rumours when you transfer, but you have to be careful what you believe.”

Federico Valente had coached Johan Manzambi at Freiburg’s academy. He recently backed him for a big move to Manchester City, Chelsea or Tottenham Hotspur.

The latest claims have mentioned about Bayern Munich as an option for the new Aston Villa star.

Why Bayern Munich won’t sign Aston Villa man

Johan Manzambi has quickly settled in at Villa Park, showcasing both his qualities and potential. This has already resulted in transfer links, and Sky Deutschland covers about the Bundesliga winners.

Sky states there is ‘no truth’ in reports of the Bavarian club’s interest in the youngster. This is also because the midfielder is ‘no longer within the club’s budget’, meaning his signing is beyond Bayern Munich’s reach.

The Swiss has a contract until 2031, and Transfermarkt value him at €65m. Unai Emery’s side invested €60m and intend to hold on to him for long.

His suitors have to table an irresistible offer to tempt Aston Villa to sell either in January or next summer.
