Nottingham Forest submit official bid – Trying to beat Manchester City and Bayern Munich

by · Sport Witness

Nottingham Forest will soon get ahead of Manchester City and Bayern Munich in the race to sign Feyenoord’s Givairo Read.

Manchester City have been following the right-back for several months. In April, we relayed news the Etihad club will challenge Bayern Munich for his signature.

A month later, Sport Witness covered claims that Manchester City have taken the lead, pushing Bayern Munich aside.

Manchester City and Bayern Munich haven’t made advances yet, allowing Nottingham Forest to enter the race.

Nottingham Forest to make concrete move

The Reds have appointed Oliver Glasner as their new manager earlier this week, and he may have requested for a new fullback this summer. Either way, Thursday will be key in their efforts to sign Givairo Read.

That’s according to Fr12.nl, who claims the City Ground club are keen and will take the first concrete step today to secure the 20-year-old’s services.

Nottingham Forest will formally contact Feyenoord to submit an official bid. There’s no mention of Manchester City or Bayern Munich in the report.

Read joined the Eredivisie side in 2023 and has played 52 matches of which 20 were from last season. A hamstring injury, on two different occasions, limited his game time.

That hasn’t put off Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Nottingham Forest. Glasner’s side will be the first club to convert their interest into an offer in the next few hours.

Different take on Nottingham Forest offer

Fr.12.nl insists Feyenoord don’t have rush to decide on Givairo Read once they receive an offer from Nottingham Forest.

The time left on the Netherlands U21 international contract put them in a comfortable position for negotiations. He has a contract until 2029, and Transfermarkt value him at €20m.

Voetbal International on Thursday backs up the English club’s interest and also about Manchester City and Bayern Munich.

VI further adds Nottingham Forest submitted an official bid on Wednesday afternoon, and Feyenoord technical director Dévy Rigaux has rejected it. It’s unclear whether the Reds will return with an improved offer.

There’s no mention of the fee Oliver Glasner’s side will offer or Feyenoord’s request.  Earlier claims talked about the latter wanting a club-record fee. Their current record is €35m collected from Igor Paixão’s sale to Marseille last summer.
