“It didn’t go so well” – Agent says client’s dream transfer to Tottenham has gone sour
by Sean Lunt · Sport WitnessRadu Dragusin’s agent, Florin Manea, has admitted that the defender’s transfer to Tottenham has gone from dream move to sour.
Dragusin is currently on loan at Fiorentina, where is he is trying to get back on track after a disappointing spell in England.
The 24-year-old joined Spurs in 2024 after impressing at Genoa. But he would go on to make just 35 Premier League appearances for Spurs.
Tottenham struggles
A serious knee injury didn’t help on that front. But the reality was that the Romanian never established himself or proved he was worthy of game time ahead of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.
Now his agent, who is never shy of making comments public, has reflected on his client’s time in London so far when asked whether Napoli were keen in the past.
“We were close to a move to Napoli, but things happen in life,” he said to CalcioNapoli.
“Sunday is an important match against a major team like Napoli, and he will try to do his best. Napoli is certainly still on his mind to some extent, but right now we are at Fiorentina, and he will give 100% to win.
“At that time, Bayern Munich and Tottenham also wanted him; I even spoke with Aurelio De Laurentiis back in 2023.
“I spoke with the president, and we told Bayern that we would be going to England because his dream was to play in the Premier League. It didn’t go quite so well as hoped, but that’s part of life.”
Tottenham spell over
Indeed, Manea believes his time at Tottenham is firmly over. He and his client are certainly looking to stay in Florence long-term.
“He came to Florence to stay. He is on loan with an obligation to buy after twenty matches. And I doubt he won’t play them,” he added.
“He arrived with the intention of staying and making an impact at Fiorentina. He has experience in Serie A and England. And he won the Europa League. He possesses a wealth of experience, yet he is still only 24 years old.”
