Watford may be about to secure big arrival – Player and club could benefit

Edoardo Bove has had a difficult last few months in football, and Watford have now been floated as a destination for the former Roma midfielder.

The Italian hasn’t played a game of football since December 2024. Whilst on loan at Fiorentian from Roma, and during a Serie A clash against Inter Milan, he suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch.

After a heart condition was confirmed, a defibrillator was fitted. Due to regulations in Italian football, he can’t play in Serie A anymore and this led to him leaving Fiorentina.

Despite being under contract at Roma, he can’t play professionally in Italy. Christian Eriksen’s situation was similar.

RomaSport cover the 23-year-old’s situation and mention Watford as a candidate to sign him.

The Hornets are seen as a ‘light at end of the tunnel’ for the player, who is believed to be ready to return to football.

A move to Watford would be a way for Bove to resurrect his career after a ‘long ordeal’.

The London club have obvious Italian connections due to the Pozzo family. Considering the Italian is still only 23, a move to the Championship could definitely be a good launching pad for him.

Bove has already displayed an ability to star in the top-flight in Italy, so this could be quite a coup for Watford.
