Crystal Palace told ‘massive bid’ needed for signing – Player keen on Eagles

by · Sport Witness

Crystal Palace made concrete attempts to sign Christos Tzolis in August. The Eagles made a written offer but it was rejected by Club Brugge.

Wednesday’s edition of Het Nieuwsblad covers Crystal Palace’s failure to sign the 23-year-old.

It’s claimed the FA Cup winners faced a wall from the Jupiler Pro League side after tabling a €32m bid.

Tzolis ‘secretly hoped’ a transfer to Selhurst Park would go through. He quickly accepted the Belgian club’s decision and has continued to impress on the pitch. He scored 11 goals and contributed 12 assists from 27 matches this season.

It’s no surprise the winger’s performances have caught the attention of several English clubs, with Atlético Madrid also keen.

The newspaper states Club Brugge have ruled out a sale in the winter market. It’s claimed Crystal Palace ‘can attest to Club Brugge’s seriousness’, having rejected their €32m bid last summer.

They want the Greece international to stay until the end of the season, to help them win the title.

The situation can only change if there’s a ‘massive bid’. Het Nieuwsblad don’t mention a figure but claim the Belgian club have shown they ‘don’t yield easily to large sums’.

Back in August, Voetbal Nieuws reported Club Brugge were confident they can get 2.5X more than what Crystal Palace offered. In other words, over €75m.
