Manchester United block transfer after Ruben Amorim exit – Player going nowhere
by Sean Lunt · Sport WitnessManchester United are now blocking Joshua Zirkzee’s departure this month following Ruben Amorim’s departure. A switch to Roma is off the cards for the time being.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport. They report that while Roma are determined to improve up front, they face frustration in their hunt for Zirkzee.
He had looked likely to leave Manchester United this month after barely featuring under Ruben Amorim all season. But now that the Portuguese manager has been sacked, Manchester United have decided to keep the Dutchman.
That’s frustrated Roma, who had been working on the deal for weeks. All indications had been that they would get their man as well. Not the deal is practically closed, unless there is a sensational change in developments.
Roma certainly don’t believe there will be as they’re now working on alternatives. They’re looking at the likes of Robinio Vaz at Marseille and Lorenzo Lucca. The interest in both is further indication that they consider Zirkzee to be a lost cause.
There could be time for it to change if Manchester United’s new interim manager decides he doesn’t want Zirkzee, but for now that doesn’t appear to be on the cards.
World Cup is a long shot for Manchester United player
Zirkzee is remaining at Old Trafford, unless and until there’s another change in direction. The Dutchman’s stance on this hasn’t been shared, with him keen to make the World Cup.
Ronald Koeman, though, isn’t a fan and has it made it clear previously that Zirkzee isn’t on his team radar. To convince the Oranje manager, the 24-year-old would have to go on a good run of form regardless of where he is.
The alternative is hoping for a Netherlands injury crisis in the coming months.
