Attempt to sign Manchester United player for less than €10m is ongoing – Meeting ASAP

Trabzonspor want to buy André Onana from Manchester United and will soon contact the goalkeeper’s camp and the Premier League side.

The goalkeeper had a mixed spell with Manchester United since arriving at Old Trafford from Inter Milan in 2023.

Last summer, Senne Lammens’ arrival saw Onana drop further down the pecking order. Therefore, the latter left the Red Devils for the Turkish club on loan and the move worked out well.

The Cameroon international kept six clean sheets and conceded 40 goals from 33 matches last season. He also won the Turkish Cup, after starring in the 2-1 win over Konyaspor in the final.

Work to buy Manchester United man 

His performances convinced the Süper Lig side to extend his stay. In July, the 30-year-old returned on a fresh loan, most likely without a purchase option.

André Onana felt appreciated by his teammates, the club and their coaching staff. This made it easier for him to return.

This season, the Manchester United owned player has kept two clean sheets and conceded 10 goals from eight matches. Trabzonspor are seventh in the table, three points behind leaders Amed SK.

Their management want to make his stay permanent. That’s according to Türkiye, who cover Trabzonspor’s plan to proceed with this operation.

Manchester United and Onana need to make effort 

The Turkish club’s president, Ertuğrul Doğan, is leading their pursuit of buying the stopper from Michael Carrick’s side.

André Onana has a contract until 2028 but has no future at Old Trafford. The Red Devils are unlikely to oppose his sale and in fact, have set a €10m price. He earns €5.5m, likely net per year, plus bonuses.

Trabzonspor find the asking price and his salary high, and want Manchester United and the player to agree to lower figures.

There’s belief the former Ajax man won’t pose as a problem as he’s ready to stay and sign a five-year contract. Trabzonspor’s management are expected to meet with both Onana’s representatives and Manchester United ‘as soon as possible’.

The Cameroonian will turn 31 years of age next April. It’s not certain whether giving him a five-year contract would make sense for the Turkish club. Manchester United won’t have to worry about that.
