Celtic submit offer – O’Neill’s side told to bid higher
by Naveen Ullal · Sport WitnessCeltic are keen on adding Real Oviedo’s Haissem Hassan to Martin O’Neill’s squad and have made an attempt to bring him to Celtic Park this summer.
The Scottish champions are working on giving O’Neill new options in the attack next season.
On Tuesday, Sport Witness relayed news Camilo Durán has left Qarabağ FK’s camp to carry out a Celtic medical. The striker’s signing should go through if there are no last-minute setbacks.
Celtic are also keen on improving their wide positions and have looked at Frosinone’s Farès Ghedjemis. After the January rejection. O’Neill’s side could find it difficult because of the growing interest and valuation.
Celtic identify winger target from Spain
Martin O’Neill’s s are showing interest in Real Oviedo’s Haissem Hassan.
That’s according to Fondo Segunda, who focus their coverage on second division Spanish clubs. Real Oviedo have dropped to the Segunda División, after finishing 20th in La Liga.
The Egypt international operates on the right wing and contributed an assist in their 3-2 World Cup defeat to Argentina on Tuesday.
He failed to score and contributed three assists from 38 matches for Real Oviedo last season.
That didn’t stop Celtic from submitting a €4m bid. Fondo Segunda are unaware of the Spanish club’s response or their stance on selling the 23-year-old. He’s also attracting interest from Saudi Arabia, who haven’t made an offer yet.
Clause complicates deal for Celtic
Cope cover the growing interest in Haissem Hassan, and Real Oviedo’s stance on selling him.
The Egyptian has received several offers so far, without the outlet confirming their details or the clubs that have submitted bids.
Cope claims Real Oviedo are referring to his €12m release clause and his former club, Villarreal, are due 40%.
Celtic have paid more than this figure twice; on Arne Engels and Jota. It’s unlikely Martin O’Neill’s side will spend big on a player who failed to score last season.
Hassan’s contract expires in 2027, and Transfermarkt value him at €3.5m. Taking these into account, Celtic’s €4m seems more than fair.
The time left on his contract could force the Spanish club to sell this summer, or risk losing him for nothing next year.
