Crystal Palace in talks for defender – Might have found their Guehi replacement

by · Sport Witness

Crystal Palace have opened talks with Lyon for defender Ruben Kluivert as they look to bolster their squad on deadline day.

That’s according to Foot Mercato. The website reports that Crystal Palace are interested in the Dutch defender.

According to their information, Kluivert has found himself on Palace’s radar after impressing at Lyon over the past few weeks. He took advantage of absences in the squad due to the Africa Cup of Nations, ‘gaining momentum’ in the side as a result.

He’s put together a string of consistent performances, which had been lacking since a summer arrival from Casa Pia.

Now a departure could be on the cards. Lyon are negotiating a deal for defender Noham Kamara. That, in turn, could push Kluivert towards the exit and negotiations with Crystal Palace are already underway. FM say the Eagles are ‘determined’ to sign the Dutchman.

He’s currently valued at €2.5m, but there’s no mention of what Crystal Palace are offering. However, the money would be more than welcomed by Lyon, who need sales of any type. Crystal Palace have the money from Marc Guehi’s sale anyway, so they’re unlikely to be too concerned on that front.

Negotiations are on between the two clubs, although it may be dependent on Lyon getting Kamara over the line first.
