Just €2m – Negotiations desired to sign Bournemouth player
by Pedro Reinert · Sport WitnessBournemouth’s Luis Sinisterra could now be heading into an unexpected twist, with Cruzeiro moving from rejecting a permanent deal to actively trying to renegotiate terms for his stay.
In early March, the Brazilian club had taken a firm internal stance not to trigger the previously agreed €3.5m (£3m) clause.
That decision followed an assessment under former manager Tite, with injuries and limited minutes shaping the outcome. However, the picture has shifted since then.
Tite was sacked. And Sinisterra returned from injury in mid-April. He has been on the bench for Cruzeiro’s last four matches and came on twice, playing around 30 minutes in total. Reports suggest he has left a positive impression on new manager Artur Jorge.
According to RTI Esporte, this change in perception has led to a fresh approach behind the scenes.
Cruzeiro now seek renegotiation
The new story says Cruzeiro are working to keep Sinisterra permanently, but only under revised financial terms.
The Brazilian side believe the original figures are too high and are now attempting to reduce the overall cost. Their current idea is to reach an agreement worth around €2m (£1.7m), significantly below the existing structure.
It is a major shift from the earlier stance of walking away entirely.
Financial gap highlights scale of renegotiation
Cruzeiro’s position underlines how drastic the proposed change would be. We will try to lay it all out.
They have already paid €2.5m (£2.1m) for the initial loan. Under the original agreement, they would then owe a further €3.5m (£3m) for 50% of the player’s rights, taking that portion alone to €6m (£5.2m). A full deal could eventually rise to €11m (£9.5m).
However, the Brazilian side are now attempting to secure the entire package for around €2m (£1.7m) more.
In practical terms, that would mean a total outlay of roughly €4.5m (£3.9m) for 100% of the player’s rights. That figure is notably lower than the previously agreed price for just half of the player.
This gap helps explain the strategy. Sinisterra’s ongoing physical instability has limited his availability and impact, making the original structure difficult to justify. Bur for a discount, Cruzeiro still would keep him.
Manager influence changing situation
Artur Jorge’s arrival appears to have altered the internal evaluation. Even though he has not contributed much on the pitch, his performances in training appear to have impressed the Portuguese coach, who sees potential in the Colombian winger.
While the manager sees Luis Sinisterra as a potentially useful option, the decision is now being framed around balancing performance and cost. That is why Cruzeiro are not simply reversing course, but instead attempting to renegotiate the deal entirely.
Under Tite, the plan pointed towards an exit. Under Artur Jorge, there is now openness to keeping the player, provided the numbers are adjusted.
What this means for Bournemouth
A return to Bournemouth in the summer had looked increasingly likely. Now, there is a possibility of a revised offer arriving, albeit at a much lower level than originally agreed.
Whether Bournemouth would accept a deal closer to €2m (£1.7m) remains unclear. The gap between that figure and the existing structure is significant, which could make negotiations complicated. But is it wiser to cash in on a player with ongoing fitness issues, or keep him and wait for a better opportunity to emerge?
Either way, what had been a closed door is now slightly open again, even if only under very different financial conditions.
