“Very sad moment” – Player in tears as he reacts to blow months after Manchester United exit
by Sean Lunt · Sport WitnessManchester United fans know better than most that Antony is a bit eccentric. Now he’s demonstrating that at Real Betis.
The latest emotional moment for him? Missing on the derby against Sevilla. ABC cover the situation today.
They explain that the former Manchester United forward was in tears this week after the clash against Utrecht in the Europa League. That’s despite a 2-1 victory for Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
He ‘almost broke down in tears’ at the end of the match. Why? Because he was asked about the upcoming clash against Sevilla. He’s set to miss that game after a sending off against Girona last weekend.
“For me, it’s a very sad moment because there was no intention behind the sending-off,” he is quoted as saying to Movistar.
“It’s been a very tough week (tears well up in his eyes, and he can’t continue). I know there are many matches, but I know how important this one is, and I’m leaving very sad and angry because I wanted to be there on Sunday.
“It’s the most important match of the year, and not being able to play is tough. It’s going to be very difficult. It has been a very hard week.
“This sending-off has affected me because of the importance of the next match. I already imagined playing the derby away from home, but I’m going to be with them, giving them energy to get the three points.”
Manchester United flop follow headbutt attempt with tears
For those that don’t know, the Manchester United flop was sent off for a dangerous overhead kick attempt. He initially got away with the attempt before VAR decided that it was deserving of a red for dangerous play.
He then followed that up with a bizarre headbutt attempt on an opponent in the clash with Utrecht. That one he got away with that, but the moment has gone viral in the hours since. It seems he was less apologetic and teary about that moment.
Either way, he’s set to miss the clash against Sevilla, something he is clearly devastated by.
