‘No panic’ – Manchester City star’s PR manager dismisses injury claims
by Naveen Ullal · Sport WitnessManchester City’s Joško Gvardiol could feature again for the Premier League club before the end of this season.
The Croatia international underwent surgery for a broken tibia in January and has been on the sidelines since then.
Two months ago, national team doctor, Tomislav Vlahović, reassured fans the Manchester City star would make it to the World Cup.
On April 2nd, Sport Witness covered claims from Croatia that the defender is facing no complications in his recovery. The same source said he should be able to run again in 10 days or so.
However, the latest claims from the UK state otherwise. The British press reports the 24-year-old is unlikely to recover on time before the season finale.
Update from Croatia on Manchester City player
Sportske Novosti got in touch with Joško Gvardiol’s PR manager Stipo Dubravac for an update. He wasteed no time to calm things down and provides positive updates on the Citizens player’s injury situation.
“We understand the public interest and the articles that have appeared in the English media. As you can see, during this period Joško is not appearing in public or posting on social media,” he said.
“He is extremely motivated and focused on getting back on the field and being available to the club, and especially the national team. Even when he was on his time off and came to Croatia, he had his official physical therapist with him and worked on his recovery every day.
“Everyone who knows him will tell you that his level of professionalism is fascinating. As always, the most important thing is for him to be fully fit and healthy. He has worked his entire life, sacrificing and fighting to be at the highest level and play for his country.
“Right now, he is working extremely hard on his recovery, training twice a day: he has his first workout in the morning, and after a short rest, he returns to the club for an afternoon session, six times a week. His heart belongs to the Croatian national team, and for them, he would play on crutches if he had to.”
Citizens star’s potential return date
Sportske Novosti also dismiss claims that Joško Gvardiol won’t play again for Manchester City this season.
The current assessment indicates he should train soon and could be return to the pitch around May 5-10th. However, it’s unclear whether Pep Guardiola will hand minutes to the player.
Either way, there’s ‘no panic’ around the Croatian’s injury situation despite claims in the UK stating otherwise.
Injury return boost for Manchester City
Earlier this week, Pep Guardiola’s side secured a 1-0 win over Burnley and that saw them take the top spot from Arsenal.
Both Manchester City and the Gunners have 70 points and the same goal difference, with Mikel Arteta’s side in second spot.
There are five more Premier League matches this season, and the former RB Leipzig man could offer Guardiola more options in the defence next month.
